Top ‘Black Friday’ hot stocks to buy 2013 / 2014 #blackfriday #cybermonday #cybermondaystocks

Starting the retail holiday shopping season on Thanksgiving was an unmitigated success. For example, Walmart (WMT) actually had 41,000 transactions per minute yesterday. Wow.Hewlett-Packard (HPQ-Free Report), Tiffany (TIF-Free Report), Wal-Mart (WMT-Free Report), Target (TGT-Free Report) and Best Buy (BBY-Free Report).

So expect this as a standard practice for the retail industry going forward, and perhaps the beginning of Thanksgiving as a holiday celebrated only by those with enough money to not have to work on that day. (The lesson here is, clearly: stay in school, kiddies.) That said, today is still Black Friday, when retailers across the spectrum see their first overall profits of the calendar year. How's your retail exposure?

This early period in holiday shopping season is necessarily skewed toward the big-box retailers, like Macy's (M) and Target (TGT), both of which also did well opening their doors on Thanksgiving. All three of these companies carry a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold); accelerated sales right at this very moment are already baked into the cake. And Amazon (AMZN) and Apple (AAPL) can also be expected to stay busy for the next several weeks, and they have Zacks Rank #3s, too.

But here's a list of retailers you may wish to consider,The Retail sector has been in focus lately, with the broadly underwhelming guidance from Wal-Mart (WMT-Free Report), Target (TGT-Free Report), Best Buy (BBY-Free Report) and others pointing towards a soft holiday shopping season for the sector. Even before the earnings reports from these retailers, we knew that consumer spending growth had decelerated in Q3. We know that in the Q3 GDP report personal consumption expenditures were up only +1.5%, down from Q2’s +1.8% growth pace. A low-growth environment forces retailers to rely on promotional efforts to grab more consumer dollars. But this zero-sum drive for market share where one company’s gain is another’s loss typically drives down margins for everyone.

Looked at this way, Wal-Mart’s sub-par outlook may not solely be a function of under-pressured household finances, but also reflective of a hyper competitive retail environment where some operators are more than willing to sacrifice margins for more sales. Wal-Mart referred to this competitive dynamic in their earnings call, which apparently more than offset the beneficial effects of recent downtrend in gasoline prices. either to increase your exposure to the retail space or replace some of your holdings that aren't really bringing home the goods.Jessica Kessler had her first Black Friday experience several years ago, waking up at 3 a.m. on Friday to stand outside in the cold with hundreds of people waiting for Kohl's to open. Since then, she has ventured out with her husband's family in the early morning hours of Black Friday to hunt for deals. But she said there is no discount deep enough to draw her from her home on Thanksgiving.

"I was able to knock out a good bit of my shopping in the years that we went and got some deals that I was happy with," she said. "But at this point, there is no amount of savings that they could offer that would make it worth it to me."

Tiffany & Co. (TIF), Activision Blizzard (ATVI) and The TJX Companies (TJX) are all Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) stocks, and each has received an upgrade from Hold in the past week. The high-end jeweler, video game maker and discount department retailer all posted positive earnings surprises in their most recent quarterly reports, most notably ATVI's 600% surprise (7 cents vs. 1 cent earnings per share).Wal-Mart /quotes/zigman/245476/delayed/quotes/nls/wmt WMT +0.73% , J.C. After trading closes on Friday, J.C. Penney will leave the S&P 500 /quotes/zigman/3870025/realtime SPX +0.25% since its market cap no longer made it suitable for the large-cap index of stocks.

Online retailers such as Amazon.com Inc. /quotes/zigman/63011/delayed/quotes/nls/amzn AMZN +0.70% , eBay Inc. /quotes/zigman/76117/delayed/quotes/nls/ebay EBAY +1.12% and Overstock.com Inc. /quotes/zigman/87370/delayed/quotes/nls/ostk OSTK -0.54% are likely to draw attention as well on Friday, with “Cyber Monday” right around the corner. No significant earnings reports were scheduled for Friday

But Northern department store Bon-Ton (BONT) and specialty furnishings retailer Kirkland's (KIRK) are riding his with Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) designations. Both have also received upgrades in the past week, and both expect big numbers in their January quarters. Consider either or both if you're looking for more "pop" from your holiday shopping investments

Wall Street to open on black friday higher in shorter session

"They keep telling you that it looks good but you have to be very careful when you look at housing data," Polcari warns in the attached video, adding that you can't compare what goes on in the northeast with what's happening in Miami or Las Vegas or Phoenix.Wall Street was poised for a fairly unspectacular return from Thanksgiving, with both Dow futures and the broader S&P 500 futures up 0.1 percent. Trading is expected to remain subdued especially as it's only a half day in U.S. markets. "Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday always means quieter markets and this year is no different," said Alastair McCaig, market analyst at IG. He concedes that housing is "turning around from the depths of the lows" and is "trying to find a bottom." Try telling him that the recent 10% increase in the national median price of a home is reflective of what's really happening in America, and you're apt to get both barrels! "Prices are up 10% from $80,000," he says of the badly beaten markets where three bedroom condos can still be had for $100,000. "I'm not saying the housing market isn't trying to find a bottom, in fact, I think for a lot of the country it is. But I don't live in the middle of Idaho, I live here." In a similar vein,Separately, ECB President Mario Draghi said confidence was returning to the euro zone, and governments must implement reforms to secure the bloc's future. "We're looking at a higher opening, there is some good news coming out of Europe," said Peter Cardillo, chief market economist at Rockwell Global Capital in New York. "The fact that we're very close to sealing a deal for Greece certainly (helps) the risk-trade."The S&P 500 was poised to break a two-week losing streak, having gained more than 2 percent this week so far. Stocks had tumbled earlier in the month on worries about the impact of tax and spending changes to take effect from January, but hopes that politicians will reach a deal to avert the so-called fiscal cliff helped the market recoup some of those declines this week. Investors will likely focus on the retail sector as the holiday shopping season begins, looking for signs of how much consumers are spending as stores offer Black Friday deals and discounts. Shares of electronics retailer Best Buy Co (BBY) were up 1.6 percent at $11.75, while J C Penney (JCP) gained 2.4 percent to $17.67. Polcari's second mythical target takes aim at job growth, GDP and more generally, the commonly espoused theme that "the economy is picking up."Hopes that Greece will avoid an imminent bankruptcy have lain behind the euro's recent advance. That held Friday, with Europe's single currency up a further 0.2 percent at $1.2897. Earlier in Asia, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose 0.8 percent to 21,913.98 and South Korea's Kospi added 0.6 percent to 1,911.33. Japanese markets were closed for a holiday. In the oil markets, benchmark oil for January delivery was down 13 cents to $87.25 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. "I'm not trying to be a Grinch here, but again, I don't see it," he says, "especially in my own industry" where overall headcount in the banking and financial services business is down nearly 200,000 from the pre-recession peak. In fact, unlike those who are looking for continued slow and steady improvement in GDP, Polcari says, "as we move into the new year, I think there's going to be a recession in 2013."

Black Friday 2012: Best 10 deals

This highly subjective list, based on price and consumer interest, contains toys, video games and a lot of electronics. TVs, laptops and other tech toys are often discounted heavily in hopes of drawing the masses into stores. One bit of advice: Try shopping online first, says Michael Brim, the founder of BFads.net. With more stores starting their online sales on Wednesday, you might not need to get in your car on Thanksgiving evening, when many stores are now kicking off their sales. "If you miss out on an item online, you still have a second chance to pick it up in stores," Brim says. And often, there are some good last-minute, unadvertised deals. Our deal watchers say more deals on tablets in particular could land at the eleventh hour. Toshiba 40-inch, 1080p LCD HDTV at Best Buy and Amazon.com TVs are hitting some of their lowest price points this year, and this good-sized, brand-name set seems to be on a lot of shoppers' buy lists. Good thing you can find it at two different stores for the same price on Black Friday. Original price: $419.99 Black Friday price: $179 Stores: Best Buy and Amazon.com (price match) Apple iPad 2 (16 gigabytes with Wi-Fi) at Wal-Mart It's hard to find a sale on Apple products. Much like game consoles, the value with Apple products lies in what they are bundled with. In this case, a $75 gift card is enough to put this in the top five favorites of Black Friday shoppers. A deal on the iPad Mini, however, probably won't happen. Original price: $399 Black Friday price: $399 with a $75 Wal-Mart gift card Store: Wal-Mart Lego sets at Toys R Us A lot of toy sales center on products that aren't big sellers. Legos are a perennial favorite with kids, and 40% off a store's entire stock is a rare find indeed -- especially coming from a store that stocks such a wide variety. Original price: Varies Black Friday price: 40% off Store: Toys R Us ProScan 32-inch, 720p LCD HDTV at Kmart Just when you thought flat-screens couldn't go any lower in price, they did, nudging under the $100 mark. Second TV, anyone? Original price: $200 to $249 Black Friday price: $97 Store: Kmart (Amazon is matching it with a Haier 32-inch LCD HDTV for $97) Bing: Shop for the ProScan 32-inch, 720p LCD HDTV PlayStation 3 250-gigabyte system (with two games and wireless controller) at Target Video game consoles rarely take such a steep discount. This one appears to be bundled in the ad with the "Infamous" and "Uncharted Dual-Pack" games, as well as a wireless controller you'd probably buy anyway. Original price: $300 elsewhere for similar packages Black Friday price: $199.99 Store: Target Bing: Shop for the PlayStation 3 Skylanders Giants Starter Pack at Wal-Mart This hot new release of the video-game action figures and a game tops many kids' lists this year, following the franchise's launch last year. At this price, the pack -- which contains the three figures, a video game and a Portal of Power to activate the figures within the game -- could sell out. Original price: $74.99 Black Friday price: $38.96 Store: Wal-Mart Samsung Galaxy S III at Sam's Club This Android-powered smartphone is one of the most coveted holiday gifts this year. If you're willing to agree to a two-year contract and you're a member of Sam's Club, you can snag the latest model for under a buck. Original price: $200 Black Friday price: 96 cents with two-year contract (carriers vary by store) Store: Sam's Club

Black Friday Stocks to buy for long term ?

I'm long and bigger into Ford than I anticipated and hoped for. I really expected to make a swing trade after the sharp price drop following 1st quarter er. I never understood the near panic sell off, the er wasn't bad imho at all. So, started buying in the mid 16's and probably have averaged down to mid 13's. I started buying again lately. I'll take a look at UAL and AXL.
United Continental Holdings Inc., (UAL) shares are trading at $15.53. United is a major global airline. The 50-day moving average is $19.19 and the 200-day moving average is $21.43. The shares have traded in a range between $15.51 to $29.06 in the past 52 weeks. UAL is estimated to earn about $3.71 per share in 2011 and $5.25 in 2012. This puts the P/E ratio at ridiculously low levels, just about 4 times 2011 earnings, and less than 3 times earnings for 2012.
Long in F, BIP, GDX, GDXJ, CSCO. Don't like airlines stock at all. AAPL may hit a slide with current leadership and no strong new creative products
Book value is listed at $6.99 per share. Higher oil prices and economic concerns have been impacting airline stocks, but this appears to be an overreaction based on emotion rather than the fundamentals, like earnings. If United earned even half of what the estimates are, the stock would still be cheap. Barclays has set a $33 price target for UAL shares and Maxim Group has a $28 target, which can be seen here.

Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) shares are trading at $24.47. Earnings estimates are about $2.55 for 2011 and $2.76 for 2012. This gives MSFT shares a P/E ratio of only about 9 times earnings. The 50-day moving average is $26.13 and the 200-day moving average is $25.53. The shares have traded in a range between $23.65 to $29.46 in the past 52 weeks. The dividend is 80 cents per share which yields about 3.2%.

Microsoft has a huge amount of cash on the balance sheet - around $56 billion. Microsoft can still innovate and has some exciting new products like the Kinect which allows people to use their bodies to control and play games without a hand held or other controller. Microsoft's fortress-like balance sheet, low P/E ratio, and strong dividend, makes these shares a low risk way to invest in technology. The Kinect and the X-Box will be in demand for the holidays, but the stock is an even better long-term deal.

American Axle (AXL) shares are trading at $7.65. AXL is a leading manufacturer of automotive components. The 50-day moving average is about $8.55 and the 200-day moving average is about $10.60. These shares have traded in a range between $6.77 to $16.20 in the last 52 weeks. Earnings estimates for AXL are $2.01 per share in 2011, and $2.09 for 2012. I would buy this stock on dips in the $7 to $7.50 range which is where it has recently traded. Some investors are concerned that a weakening economy will impact AXL, but multiple insiders seem confident of the outlook and they have been buying the stock recently.

Ford Motor Co. (F) shares are trading at $9.83. Ford is a global leader in auto and truck manufacturing. The 50-day moving average is about $10.89 and the 200-day moving average is about $12.95, so these shares are trading below support levels. Ford shares hit a 52 week high of $18.97 and a low of $9.05 earlier this year. Earnings estimates for Ford are $1.87 per share in 2011 and $1.62 for 2012 which puts the P/E ratio at about 5. The European debt crisis is slowing down demand for cars in Europe and Ford has responded by announcing about 4,000 temporary layoffs. It's good to see that Ford is reacting quickly in order to protect profit margins. Ford has made great progress in terms of the balance sheet, and as that continues, a dividend could be initiated.

Hartford Financial (HIG) shares are trading at $15.66. HIG is a leading insurance company. The 50-day moving average is $17.65 and the 200-day moving average is $23.03. This stock has been impacted by storm losses, legal expenses, and a major market correction, but this has created much lower prices and a great long-term buying opportunity. Earnings estimates are about $2.04 for 2011, and are expected to jump to $3.52 per share in 2012. Hartford is extremely undervalued and that could lead to out-performance in the future. HIG pays a dividend of about 40 cents per share, which is equivalent to a yield of about 2.4%. This stock is trading well below book value which is stated at $49.89.

Apple, Inc. (AAPL) shares are trading at $366.99. Apple is a leading maker of computers and mobile devices. The 50-day moving average is $394.72 and the 200-day moving average is $363.85. Earnings estimates for AAPL are about $34.52 per share in 2011, and $38.59 for 2012. These estimates appear to be too low, and Apple could easily beat them. The 52 week range is $310.50 to $426.70. Apple shares are a source of funds and liquidity (almost like cash). Just as some hedge funds and investors sell gold to raise cash, many are doing the same with Apple. It's smart to use these cash raising dips as a buying opportunity, because the long-term trend for Apple is up, and the stock remains very undervalued.

The growth from China is not priced into this stock. There are only 4 Apple stores in mainland China, and 1 store in Hong Kong. The expansion potential in China is absolutely enormous and this stock is too cheap at about 10 times earnings. Dips to about $366 look like particularly good buying opportunities since this is right around a key support level (the 200-day moving average). Apple is likely to see a surge in revenues this holiday season with iPhones and iPads being one of this years most wanted gifts. Furthermore, while Apple is expected to offer some "Black Friday" deals, these products are in such high demand that the discounts will be small and that means strong profit margins for Apple.

Black Friday Stocks to Buy

Good morning. Here's what you need to know.

  • Asian markets were down in overnight trading with the Hang Seng falling 1.37%. Europe is lower after a weak Italian bond auction, and U.S. futures are lower ahead of the market open. U.S. stock markets will close early today.

  • Moody's has cut Hungary's credit rating to junk status. The foreign and local-currency bond ratings were cut to Ba1 from Baa3. This comes a week after Hungary asked the IMF for assistance, in part because of weakness in the forint.
