Is Twitter $1 billion IPO ? #TWTR InvestorsTwitter IPO why did They BuyThe Wrong Stock ?

$1 billion IPO
Twitter said it aims to raise $1 billion through the initial public offering. However, that figure could very well change.
Here are some accumulated statistics from our scouring of the Twitter IPO filing for your perusal. The overall numbers show a company
Companies are required to declare how much they plan to raise, though they are by no means required to stick with those numbers. Facebook (FB +3.78%), for instance, initially said it sought $5 billion, but wound up pulling in $16 billion. Twitter has been valued at upwards of $10 billion.

Negative profits
Twitter's revenue has skyrocketed in recent years. In 2012, revenue leapt an incredible 198 percent from the year before, coming in at a hair under $317 million. Before going public, the company must first wait through a three-week quiet period. After a “road show” that markets shares, Twitter and its underwriters, led by Goldman Sachs, will set a price for them. Twitter stock won’t be available to the public, then, until November.

Twitter had reportedly been planning to raise $1.5 billion with an offering of 50 million to 55 million shares priced at $28 to $30 each. Its 2013 revenue had been estimated at $545 million by eMarketer, set to rise to $807 million in 2014.

Twitter said more than 65 percent of its advertising revenue came from mobile devices like tablets and smartphones. Because mobile advertising revenue is growing much more quickly than desktop advertising revenue in developed markets like the U.S., some believe Twitter has as a significant advantage over rivals like Facebook, which gleaned just 41 percent of ad revenue from mobile in its most recent quarter.

Twitter’s IPO filing marks its first release of revenue and profit figures, providing an unprecedented glimpse into the company’s financial health and growth prospects.

And the company reported earning $253 million in the first half of 2013, putting it on pace for another record year.

However, as is often the case with tech startups, it's actually losing money due to ballooning expenses. The company lost $79.4 million last year, and is already $69.3 million in the hole this year. All told, Twitter has rung up a $418.6 million deficit since its inception.

Powerful underwriters
Twitter's massive losses, though, won't scare away investors who are focused on the service's popularity. Financial titan Goldman Sachs is the lead underwriter, according to the filing. It's joined by Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, Allen & Co., and Code Advisors.

Massive user pool, but tapering growthlatest information on initial public offerings (IPOs), including latest IPOs, expected IPOs, recent filings, and IPO Performance
There were 218.3 million monthly active users on Twitter as of June 30, up 44 percent from the prior year, according to the filing.

However, Twitter acknowledged that it could not sustain such rapid growth going forward. With U.S. growth already slowing down, the company said it would look overseas, specifically to Argentina, France, Japan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa, to expand its user base.

And Twitter warned that it would have to find ways to stay "useful, reliable, and trustworthy" or it would risk going down the same road as once-popular companies that have turned into morbid jokes. When you buy a stock on an IPO,It's like everyone who watches those gold stock commercials and all the talk radio announcers who pump this stuff out. You know it will go up for awhile then dramatically drop. I believe a 30% drop this year alone. Don't follow everyone and what they do like this, you are buying overinflated stock.. I also believe we will have another major market crash this decade. The price is awfully high and everyone is buying, the rich will get out at the right time wait for it to crash then buy it back up on the cheap. the early investors already got in at a far far far cheaper price then you and when you follow the crowd and buy stuff like this without checking their true revenue model, you will end up losing bigtime in the end. Facebook is the perfect example.

Wall Street, where investors were so anxious about the social media company, which disclosed its initial public offering filing on Thursday, that they funneled money into the wrong company. That's right, the consumer electronics company Tweeter Home Entertainment Group saw its stock price rise 684 percent on Friday, according to MarketWatch.

In short, "if people get bored and drift off, the company will have problems," says The Wall Street Journal's Paul Vigna.
We don't know for sure why Tweeter's stock skyrocketed. But considering the company filed for bankruptcy in 2007 and went out of business in 2008, according to CNNMoney, we're guessing it has something to do with Tweeter's ticker symbol, TWTRQ, which is only one letter off from Twitter's future ticker, TWTR

Reliance on ad dollars , Twitter is looking to raise $1 billion from outside investors. The company generated $317 million in revenue last year.In making public its prospectus, Twitter sets the clock on one of the most anticipated stock sales of the year and shows how important mobile
Almost all of Twitter's revenue comes from advertisements. According to the filing, 85 percent of all revenue last year, and 87 percent through June of this year, came from ads.

Further, "substantially all" of that ad money came from promoted tweets, accounts, and trends. Though you may glaze over #GoSeeThisCoolNewMovie when it pops up as a trending topic, Twitter banks a ton of money by boosting it to prominence.

Top Stocks to buy in February 2013

1. Apple (AAPL) Apple continued to keep itself at the forefront of investors’ minds this week, announcing the introduction of an iPad with a whopping 128 gigabytes of memory. The beefed up model will go on sale next week with a price tag of $799. The company has already sold more than 120 million iPads. Mutual funds, like many retail investors, have reduced the size of their holdings in the tech giant. Some fund managers were savvy enough to get out on the early side. “Of the 321 funds that had more than 5 percent of their assets in Apple shares at the beginning of 2012, 53 of them - or slightly more than 16 percent - significantly cut back their weighting of the company before the plunge gained momentum, according to data from Morningstar,” Reuters reported. Of course, there are plenty who are sticking by Apple. Brian White of Topeka Securities, told The Daily Ticker that while he’s tempered his bullish attitude, he believes Apple will decide to give more of its massive $135 billion cash pile back to shareholders, in the form of increased dividends and share buybacks. White thinks Apple will release a slew of new products over the next year: A new iPad, new iPhones, and, eventually, an Apple TV. Shares managed to regain some ground this week, rising just over 3% for the week. Still, shares remain down around 17% for the year as of Friday’s close and down nearly 40% from a September peak of $705.07. 2. Facebook (FB) Earnings for Facebook’s fourth quarter, released on Wednesday, showed its run up in share price has been warranted -- at least somewhat. The company saw revenue for the quarter jump 40%, and crucial mobile advertising revenue doubled. Despite this, mobile advertising revenue came in below expectations and shares started to slide. “Investors want to see evidence that CEO Mark Zuckerberg's 8-year-old company is delivering on promises to develop a full-fledged mobile advertising business, a challenge facing many of today's technology leaders including Google,” Reuters noted. Henry Blodget summed up Facebook’s problems on The Daily Ticker: Yesterday, after reporting good Q4 results, Facebook announced that expenses will grow much faster than revenue in 2013. Translation? Facebook's profit margin will drop. As a result, Facebook's earnings will grow at an even less-compelling rate this year than analysts were previously expecting them to grow. The sentiment was echoed by our own Jeff Macke on Breakout. "There's nothing to get that excited about. It's not a howling sell or buy. I think the volatility is more of a concern," Macke said. Shares opened below $30 on Thursday and finished out the week down 7%. Shares are up more than 10% for the year to date. 3. Research in Motion (RIMM) Weeks of buzz and anticipation built up to the unveiling of the BlackBerry10 on Wednesday. It was almost universally accepted that the company’s future presentation would be a make or break moment. "If this thing gets ignored or is seen as a nothing phone, what do you have... a few Playbooks? This thing has to work," Eric Jackson, founder of Ironfire Capital, told Breakout. Turns out, the company unveiled a new phone and a new corporate name, dropping Research in Motion in favor of Blackberry. While the new phone has met with favorable reviews, many are wondering if it’s too late to make up so much lost ground. “Five years and roughly 80% too late, Research in Motion has officially attempted to reemerge in the overcrowded smartphone business,” Macke noted. “At the same, the once dominant mobile device maker from Waterloo, Ontario has also decided to rebrand, adopting the ubiquitous name of its primary product, Blackberry, and will be listed under the ticker symbol "BBRY." "Is this the end of the beginning, or the beginning of the end," quipped Dave Garrity, principal with GVA Research in the attached video. For him, the list of businesses which "successfully shrunk themselves to prosperity" is short, and thus, he has serious misgivings about Blackberry's future. Only time will tell how many of Blackberry's 80 million existing users will migrate to the new BB10 platform and how many will defect, but it is safe to say expectations are very low. Wall Street analysts see the company posting losses for the next three years. Shares had surged leading up to the event, tapping a 52-week high of $18.32 on January 24. But prices started slipping as the week began and dropped even more following the event. While shares are up more than 10% for the year as of Friday’s close, they had fallen 26% for the week to close at $13.02. 4. Amazon (AMZN) Amazon frustrated the bears, again, after reporting a 22% rise in sales to $21.3 billion for the fourth quarter on Wednesday. While that was shy of analysts’ projections, it wasn’t enough to keep the stock down for long. "To their considerable chagrin, the bears got their earnings miss but the stock didn't do what it 'should,'" said Macke. "After a brief drop, Amazon shares quickly roared to all-time highs after hours, a reversal of more than 10% in less than 10 minutes." Blodget agreed, noting that Amazon "has become so synonymous with 'online shopping' that many consumers now just start their searches at Amazon.com." Best & Worst Trades of 2012 top stocks,YHOO , $FB, BBY, AAPL ?

Facebook (FB)
Year-to-Date: Down 27 Percent

A trading glitch at Nasdaq on the day of Facebook's initial public offering provided an inauspicious start to one of the most-anticipated IPOs in recent years. Shares opened at $38, briefly spiked higher before trading down as low as $17 in the following months as questions about how the social media giant would generate revenues. Improved performance in the following months, a mobile advertising strategy and plans to monetize its Instagram acquisition lifted Facebook's stock price toward the end of the year.

Best Buy (BBY)
Year-to-Date: Down 48 Percent

Looking at Best Buy's stock price in December, it's tough to believe that shares appeared poised to hit $30 in March. A few reasons have contributed to the decline, from a third-quarter loss and worsening cash flow, not to mention increased competition from Amazon.com. Best Buy's founder and its largest shareholder, Richard Schultze, reportedly sought to take the company public, but faces a financing hurdle, adding more uncertainty to the company's shares.

Yahoo (YHOO)
Year-to-Date: 21 Percent

Now for the best trades of 2012.

With Marissa Meyer at the helm — a new CEO with a Google pedigree — Yahoo saw its stock price run up to its highest level in four years. Some have questioned whether the positive sentiment is justified, but so far Meyer has upped spending on advertising and quickly closed the nearly $8 billion Alibaba deal, all while improving employee morale. For now, Wall Street is willing to give Meyer the benefit of the doubt.
Apple (AAPL)
Year-to-Date: Up 29 Percent

No stock was more talked-about in 2012 than Apple — and for good reason. Shares hit a record $705 in September as the company rolled out its new iPhone 5, iPad Mini, and sky-high expectations. While Apple's stock price recently posted big losses — briefly falling below $500 mid-December — it's still up nearly 30 percent for the year. While a range of analysts have downgraded the stock and investors are questioning it, there is also exposure to the Chinese market and a rumored Apple TV ahead.

J.C. Penney (JCP)
Year-to-Date: Down 43 Percent

Despite the best efforts of Apple's former marketing whiz, Ron Johnson, who now heads J.C. Penney as its CEO, this retailer's stock fell from its high of $43 in February to the $20 level in mid-December. High hopes for a turnaround in the heavily competitive retail sector never materialized, and the stock has yet to regain its footing. Competitors such as Macy's, Nordstrom, and Saks, meanwhile, saw their shares post year-to-date gains.

When does Facebook ( #FB ) have stock value ? FB

Does Facebook Deliver Value for the Advertiser? If Facebook has to worry about degrading the user experience with intrusive or excessive advertising, the company also has to worry about ad fatigue that leads users to simply ignore those ads. So it's all well and good to find new ways to charge companies for the ability to present their goods or services to users, but there has to be value for everybody.
J.P. Morgan analyst Doug Anmuth is a believer. In a report this morning in which he affirms his Overweight rating and $30 price target, Anmuth asserts that the outlook for mobile advertising on Facebook could be better than the Street is expecting.Amazon.com [AMZN 255.04 -1.55 (-0.6%) ] announced it is planning an online marketplace for wine sales. Meanwhile, Facebook [FB 21.67 1.35 (+6.64%) ] unveiled a new feature that would allow users to send "gifts" to their Facebook friends, sending
“Our analysis suggests that both mobile ad revenue per user and mobile ad revenue per time spent could be greater than that achieved on the desktop over time,” he writes. Anmuth expects the company’s mobile ad revenues to hit $921 million next year, up from $200 million and change this year.
Anmuth notes that sentiment on the stock has improved slightly, for several reasons. Zuckerberg’s announcement that he will not sell shares in the near-term helped, as did his upbeat recent appearance at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference. Meanwhile, he notes that we are creeping closer to both Q3 earnings and the big lock-up expirations in late-October and mid-November

To name one example, Facebook has recently decided to charge for promotional offers. While Facebook offers had been free, they will now carry a charge based in part on the size of the company's Facebook page (the number of customers it can address with those offers).

At a minimum, I would expect that this will force the companies in question to be more careful about tracking the returns on those offers - with free offers there was no risk, but now companies will have to evaluate the return on using the Facebook platform

Nasdaq & ( $FB ) trading problems on IPO opening on ( $OMX ) ?

Nasdaq OMX Group Inc. (NDAQ) late Friday scrambled to address frustration among brokers and traders, who sought clarity on whether some trades in the newly issued shares of Facebook Inc. (FB) had gone through.
However, a late-day process meant to resolve the matter was seen drawing limited participation from brokers who were impacted by the trading issues, and Nasdaq OMX told traders in a later notice that the effort "resulted in nothing done."
Stock market regulators, meanwhile, planned to review Nasdaq OMX's handling of the Facebook initial public offering, in what a Securities and Exchange Commission spokesman said was in line with standard practices.
The glitches that dogged the Facebook offering marred the biggest IPO on record in terms of valuation at the time of the offering, and one that was hotly anticipated by both retail and institutional investors.
Facebook's debut was also to be a point of pride for Nasdaq OMX, burnishing the exchange's reputation as the venue of choice for a new breed of Internet companies.
Technical problems with the Facebook flotation, however, cropped up ahead of the shares' opening for live trading Friday, as brokers and investors found themselves unable to cancel or alter trades that began to be placed for the shares earlier in the morning.
Nasdaq OMX delayed the Facebook IPO's open for 30 minutes before the stock eventually began to trade at 11:30 a.m. EDT. Shares in the social media heavyweight, priced at $38 in the IPO, jumped to $45 before easing back to close at $38.23.
Representatives for Nasdaq OMX didn't respond to requests for comment.
Brokers on Friday afternoon were focused on orders for Facebook shares placed after the IPO was delayed at 11:05 a.m. but before the 11:30 a.m. open, some of which were later returned without being filled.
Some brokerage officials said they felt their customers, including institutional investors, were owed fills on those orders, because Nasdaq OMX acknowledged the orders before Facebook shares opened for trading and never told customers that orders sent after the delay wouldn't be honored.
Nasdaq OMX officials told traders in a notice late Friday afternoon that the exchange would resolve the matter through an "offline matching process" for which affected firms needed to sign up.
"If at the end of that process, a firm continues to have questions or concerns, the firm needs to submit a formal accommodation request to us through the normal channels," exchange officials wrote in the notice.
That process, Nasdaq OMX officials told traders in a later notice, "resulted in nothing done." Customers were reminded that "accommodation" requests must be turned in in writing by noon on Monday, May 21.
A spokesman for the SEC said "as is our practice, staff will review the incident with Nasdaq to determine its cause and steps that will be taken to address it."
Meanwhile retail traders and other investors remained in the dark for hours as to the status of orders placed earlier in the day, left without confirmation after making changes to the price or size of standing trades, or trying to withdraw them altogether.
"I've had headaches [trading], but never this bad," said Joseph Cohn, a website software developer based in Suffern, N.Y.
Cohn, who said he maintains a retail investment account through Fidelity Investments, placed two orders for Facebook shares Friday and later canceled them both, but hours later remained unsure whether the orders had been filled or not.
Cohn said he waited on hold for 35 minutes with Fidelity before a representative told him that the problem was Nasdaq's responsibility. "This is ridiculous," he said.
Fidelity alerted clients to what it called "FB order execution slowness."
"Marketplaces and other broker/dealers experienced severe slowness this morning, and unfortunately, those issues impacted our customers," said Stephen Austin, a spokesman for Fidelity, in a statement. "But Fidelity's systems operated normally. We continue to work closely with the marketplaces to ensure that impacted orders for Facebook are resolved as soon as possible."
Mark Turner, co-head of sales trading at electronic brokerage Instinet, said he could not recall such a hiccup striking previous IPOs, and called it a "black eye" for Nasdaq OMX.
Nasdaq OMX had conducted multiple tests of its IPO systems over the past week and took the unusual step of holding a two-hour, market-wide conference call around the time of the Facebook flotation Friday.
The exchange group's chief executive Bob Greifeld, told The Wall Street Journal in an interview early Friday that Nasdaq had "changed system capabilities based on the expected flow of orders" for Facebook shares in its IPO, and that Nadsaq OMX has been double-checking systems for weeks.
Nasdaq OMX's own share price suffered as the delay in rolling out Facebook's stock dragged on, and traders waited to get confirmations of their business in the stock.
The exchange group's stock closed 4.4% lower at $21.99, while other U.S. exchange stocks ended the day higher.
