Top March 2009 Stock Picks ! ( Family Dollar Stores & Allos Therapeutics

1. ALTH 5.84 a share Target price 12.00 by 12/09

Allos Therapeutics, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company that is focused on developing and commercializing small molecule drugs for the treatment of cancer. The Company’s lead product candidate, PDX (pralatrexate) an antifolate is in Phase 2 trial in patients with relapsed or refractory peripheral T-cell lymphoma. The Company is also investigating PDX in patients with non-small cell lung cancer and a range of other lymphoma sub-types. The Company’s other product candidate is RH1, a targeted chemotherapeutic agent, which is in a Phase 1 trial in patients with advanced solid tumors or non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
No doubt the market has cost investors a lot of money over the past year and a half. The image of people too afraid to open their 401(k) statements has become cliché. And the common wisdom says that years will pass before those losses are recovered.
But that’s not necessarily the case. Speculating on the right stocks could generate sizable returns, enough to fill some of the holes this recession has poked in your portfolio. That’s one of the reasons that Cramer’s a fan of calculated risk taking. The potential payoff is significant. Speculation’s also a way to keep things interesting. Instead of banking with the usual suspects – maybe Coca-Cola
[KO 40.85 -0.22 (-0.54%) ]
Johnson & Johnson
[JNJ 50.00 -2.44 (-4.65%) ]
[AAPL 89.31 0.12 (+0.13%) ]
– investors can put their money in a small up-and-comer.
So who’s the latest Mad Money Spec Friday pick? Allos Therapeutics
[ALTH 5.64 -0.42 (-6.93%) ]
, a biotech with a $5.64 share price and a market cap of under $500 million. Like all speculation plays, Allos has a catalyst – the probable Food & Drug Administration approval of its cancer drug – that should send the stock higher.
Allos makes an orphan drug called Pralatrexate, or PDX, used to treat peripheral T-cell lymphoma, a fast-spreading cancer that affects white blood cells. Remember an orphan drug is one that treats a very rare condition. So the FDA usually fast tracks approval, the company gets exclusivity rights to the drug, and the sales usually bring in big, big money.
Exclusivity or not, though, PDX is the only treatment for peripheral T-cell lymphoma, so there’s no competition here anyway. President Obama’s plan for Medicare, where the government will negotiate bulk drug prices directly with pharmaceutical companies, could hurt those with similar treatments, but not Allos. And orphan drugs in Europe, where the government already negotiates prices, usually cost the same as, if not more than, those in the U.S. Besides, PDX has been proven to extend patients’ lives. Don’t expect the White House to put a price on that.
On Feb. 4, Allos released data that showed patients who had previously not responded to treatment were responding to PDX, and for longer than expected. The stock popped as a result, and then the market’s decline took ALTH back down. Now ALTH is two points below where it was before the data release, giving investors a great entry point.
Cramer expects Allos to file for final FDA approval by the end of June, which means the drug could be on the market by year’s end. Worst-case scenario, analysts have said, PDX is available to the public by 2010. Sales for the drug could reach as high as $400 million a year, with the chance for even better numbers given PDX’s potential for off-label uses, much like Genentech’s
[DNA 85.55 -1.93 (-2.21%) ]",

Avastin. PDX is more potent than other chemotherapy drugs, so there’s a good chance it could treat other cancers.
Allos makes a great takeover target as well. The company’s a natural fit for any big-time firm with a blood cancer franchise, such as Celgene
got a bid.
Allos reports Tuesday, March 3, so Cramer cautioned against buying before then. The company has no sales yet, so management offer clues as to whether the company’s still on track and possibly even date-release dates on the horizon.
ALTH is a buy at $6, Cramer said, but no more. At $7, the deal doesn’t work. Investors who want in should remember to be patient and use limit orders.

2. FDO 27.44 A SHARE AS OF 3/1 , TARGET PRICE 41.00 by 9/09

Family Dollar Stores, Inc. operates a chain of more than 6,500 general merchandise retail discount stores in 44 states, providing consumers with a selection of merchandise in neighborhood stores. The Company’s merchandise assortment includes consumables, home products, apparel and accessories, and seasonal and electronics. The Company’s products include apparel, food, cleaning and paper products, home decor, beauty and health aids, toys, pet products, automotive products, domestics, seasonal goods and electronics. With a Dividend of .14 a share , is a great buy in this market !In the same boat as Wal-Mart, discount retailers are the some of the few companies showed success in 2008. FDO's stock price gained 36% in 2008.Recession time will prompt more people to go to the dollar stores to $ave MONEY!!!! Due to people needing to cut back, people are going to eventually go from Walmart to Family Dollar as both are in the same merchant category and serve much the same purpose, but Family Dollar seems to undercut Walmart's prices for many items... but does so at a cost: lack of the wide range of products that Walmart does, but from what I've seen, this doesn't effect business one bit.Not bad on debt, fairly good P/E. I'm seeing a lot more "recession fashion" and how-to's on living more cheaply....this company is made for these times.I do about 75% of my regular shopping there (condiments, small food, bread, milk, some clothes.) The stores should do well in hard times.family Dollar Stores . . . need I say more?

Sirius Soars 33 % , Today ! Why ! and what is next ? Should u buy ??

Sirius XM soars nearly 32% on a day markets are off over 2%
Major movement, Sirius Satellite Radio (SIRI)

After setting a new 52-week low, which is actually more like an all-time low, this morning at 29.5 cents,Sirius XM Radio Inc. (NASDAQ: SIRI) shares have soared over 33.6% to 38.17 cents .Yes, it is still traded on the Nasdaq, for now.Pink slip whating to happen ! Maybe a reverse stock split ??

It's been rather obvious why Sirius stock has been pounded: the weak economy, declining consumer spending, slowing auto sales, increasing debt combined with difficulty to raise capital -- cashflow problems -- and so on. But it's not that clear why the stock is rising today.

The most obvious reason for the jump in the stock price would be because even the smallest change at these price levels is a considerable percentage jump. That's partly why stocks are usually delisted from major exchanges when they reach, and stay in, penny stock territory. But for now, the Nasdaq has suspended the minimum dollar listing rules until January 16, 2009 as the number of stocks under a dollar has increased four fold the past month.

Another reason why there might be some optimism is a completely unsubstantiated rumor regarding a buyout. Over the years, Sirius has been rumored to be taken over by Microsoft, Apple, Google and CBS among others. Today, one reader suggested Disney is the one rumored to take over the troubled satellite radio company. Needless to say I put very little stock in this.

If a takeover is out of the question, what can Sirius do to save itself? That's been the question on many investors' minds. To meet its cash needs, Sirus needs to raise capital -- by borrowing more money if it can, or issue more stock, as well as cut programming costs -- yes, get rid of talent. Even then its future is somewhat questionable.

October Stock picks 2008

1. (GSG) 52.75 a Share Target Price 70.00 a share By Year End 2008.
With the bailout plan coming aboard , It does not assure the Economy, Banks and stock market to be in the clear ,so i am picking gold ( ETF ) for being a safe pick for the next 2 years.Across the board all prices are rising quickly. Food, energy, goods. Some are well into the double-digit gains over the past year alone. The demand for commodities will continue to increase. Also Jim Cramer Said it is a good time to buy gold ! i would no more than 20 % to your profile !

2.( AVAV ) 30.18 a share Target Price 36.00 a share By year end 2008 , by year end 2009 50
The Company (AeroVironment) is engaged in the design, development and production of unmanned aircraft systems and energy technologies for various industries and governmental agencies.TOYOTA BATTERIES! GM VOLT , the next generation in cars .This maker of unmanned aerial vehicles is tapping into a rapidly growing market. The need for unmanned drones is likely to increase in times of conflict and more conflict seems to be ahead of the USA. AeroVironment was instrumental in the development of the SunRacyer and subsequently the EV -1 (solely electric about 60 cents for 30 miles of distance) and EVS (hybrid 78 mpg) cars for GM in 1997 and 1998. When GM stopped the EVs (a sign of a rigid and self-destructive company), AVAV was creative and flexible enough to shift to a military, which did not directly compete with huge industries since these huge companies already had the Dept. of Defense contracts. Providing precisely info on the ground, for our troops. These Mini Planes help their job even better, with more precision, and with added surprise.
This company continues to perform well and continue to triumph in this Market.

My September 2008 Stock Picks ( A special Hurricane Gustav Stock Picks )

1. (FAN) 26.00 Target price 30.00 a share
You have to be long in this,w/ the pickens plan this ETF can pop ! only if u believe in wind energy !Wind is one of the fastest growing renewable energy sectors globally, and much less speculative than solar (there are many profitable companies trading with almost reasonable P/E values). FAN offers exposure to these and other international companies, plus a range of wind-related companies in the US from micro-cap BWEN to giganormous GE. FAN keeps the behemoths like GE or BP to a small percentage of the fund, allowing for more pure-play and also more growth potential. But a windmill is (relatively, at least) fairly cheap and the wind is nearly always blowing. Why not harvest it?

2. (RES) 18.23 target price 25.00 a share
With hurricane Gustav ready to crush all the oil & gas fields in the gulf coast this is the small cap pick u want tp have in your profile . RES is one of my top long term picks , however u can make some mad money in the short term in sept. 2008 !RPC. INC.provides a range of oilfield services that are in exploration, production & development of oil & Gas.( RES )Has been a great investment over the past 5 years & will be for the next 5 more years to come. Reasonable valuations as a result of missing the past few earnings. Forecast , should pick up steam in 2008,2009 ... . This company will benifit as exploration companies are forced to work harder to get at oil reserves. A wild card would be , if congress ever passes a bill , that would allow the USA to drill in Alaska. P/E is 13. RES is around there 1 year low, currently undervalued & still pays a nice Dividend(.20 cents )a share. This company recently borrowed big $$$$ ( 100 Million ) to buy equipment and expand the business. RES has good financials , Low Debt. I believe ( RES ) is well positioned to benefit from continued cyclical strength w/ both increasing drilling activity & natural gas production, i am forcasting increasing demand for pressure pumping services by ( RES ). The fundamentals are excellent and the inside ownership is more than respectable 66%.The management has been buying up a lot of shares lately, thats a great sign that RPC. INC. management team has a lot of faith within there company and product. So buy up shares on the dips and explore great rewards in the long term !! ( this is a long term play )When we have to drill and I mean DRILL, this company is well placed and already in position to profit on the Gulf of Mexico, TX, LA, OK. I think they have the model to make great profits. The only question is the price of Oil when it turns winter up north. Development of gas lines throughout Alaska is an eventuallity.
3. PG&E ( PCG ) 41.33 target share price 45.00 a share
PG&E Corporation is an energy-based holding company that conducts its business through Pacific Gas and Electric Company (Utility), a public utility operating in northern and central California. The Utility engages primarily in the businesses of electricity and natural gas distribution, electricity generation, procurement and transmission, and natural gas procurement, transportation, solar energy and storage. The Utility served approximately 5.1 million electricity distribution customers and approximately 4.3 million natural gas distribution customers during the year ended December 31, 2007.Really strong long term financial data and fairly good dividend yield.I think it is a good time to get into this stock, I am not sold completely on management but I like the business in the next 5 to 10 years to do well and benefit from rising oil prices. I reason i am making a Utility company one of my picks was , when i opened my new electric bill and so that i was paying way to much almost 2x the amount i paid 2 years ago , that is crazy !! can u say profit and inflation ?? so i did some research and found this company to be the best bet for the long term play and short term play ! and with a 4 % DIV. Rate , u cant go wrong !

My Top August stock picks for 2008

1. ( RT ) RUBY Tuesday 8.28 a share , my target price 15.00 by April 2009.
The expansion was very good for the restaurant and they have struggled because they finished in time for the "credit crunch". However, I think that their balance sheet will turn around in the next few years to make them some great profits.Look for a steady improvement over the next year or so.Ruby Tuesday , Is making new strides and will be making money hand over fist within the next few years. They invested alot of money in there new simple Fresh American Dining & new decor look to there restaurants. 680 domestic restaurants , 54 international .
Brand new Ruby tuesday"s was packed & forget the dark dingy past, the new restaurants are bright , attractive, trendy & well designed decor. Free fresh abundant salad bar w/ a entree. p/e ratio 11.9 , pays a nice dividend ( 3.72 ).Near 52 week low . 2 million insider purchases in Oct. , would u buy that much stock in your own company , if it was ready to tank ? RT has a solid track record of earnings , 4 year low. classic example of an oversold neglected stock, which makes it a superior Buy & hold candidate for the long term . Great fresh , simple food & great new hand crafted beers offered ( Organic choices ) & Jones Soda that is also an option on there new menu and burger sliders are to die for !! W/ all this new changes this will lead to an higher average check and more money to the bottom line , so eat up & enjoy a ruby return within a few years !!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. ( MCD ) McDonald's 63.63 a share , my target price 75.00 by year end.
McDonald's has done a Great job of expanding sales to an international market and has expanded their menu as well. I also expect fast food to be a good investment as the unemployment rate and inflation increase. Once commodity prices drop, this company should earn even more. also they done a get job hedging against food inflation.MCD has great upside potential for next quarter from Olympic earnings.Strong company, pays dividend, and good to own during recession/inflation and during bull markets. Good stock to own as you diversify your portfolio. Another great long term play !! BUY,BUY,BUY !!!!!!
